When you arrive in Washington, DC, you will see the blooming cherry trees, which have come to symbolize the natural beauty of our nation’s capital city. The famous trees, a gift from Japan in 1912, signal the coming of spring with an explosion of life and color surrounding the Jefferson Memorial on the Tidal Basin in a sea of pink and white.
This tour will include an afternoon for you to visit the Smithsonian Museums (your choice of which one(s) to see), Arlington National Cemetery tour, Washington National Cathedral tour, the incredible Newseum and take a highlights sightseeing tour, while encompassing the beautiful Cherry Trees scenery as a backdrop.
Tour package includes: 2 nights hotel accommodations, 2 full breakfasts, 2 dinners, meal and room taxes, local guide service, admissions, and deluxe round-trip transportation. Day 1 – Friday, April 6th Depart from Greenport with rest/lunch (on your own) stops along the way.
Free afternoon to visit the Smithsonian Museums. Visit the National Museum of the American Indian, the National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of American History, or the National Museum of Natural History.
Dinner is included this evening at Carmines.

Day 2 – Saturday, April 7th Full buffet breakfast is included at the hotel this morning.
Arlington National Cemetery. This is the final resting place for President John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Audie Murphy, prizefighter Joe Louis, and thousands of soldiers from every major U.S. War. Arlington House, home of Civil War General Robert E. Lee, Space Shuttle Challenger astronaut’s Memorial, and the Tomb of the unknowns are also located on these famous 612 acres.
Washington National Cathedral Tour - capture the grandeur and splendor of the world’s sixth largest Cathedral!
Lunch is on your own in the Cathedral Café.
Meet your local tour guide for a half day of touring including sights such as the outside of the Capitol, outside of the Library of Congress, a drive down Embassy Row, photo stop at the White House, and a drive by the FBI Building. Stops can include some of the Memorials.
Dinner is included at a local restaurant this evening.
Day 3 – Sunday, April 8th Full buffet breakfast is included at hotel prior to check out.
Visit the Newseum, the only interactive museum of news. Go behind the scenes and try your hand at being a television news anchor or radio sportscaster. Experience the news of today as it happens on a 126 foot-long, 10 ½ foot-high Video News Wall displaying today’s news from around the world. Relive the great new stories of the past, from the spoken stories of ancient times to today’s worldwide information explosion. Because the news changes daily, no two visits to the Newseum are ever alike.
Lunch on your own in the Café.
Depart for home with a rest/dinner stop (on your own) along the way.
