DELUXE TOUR OF THE HAMPTONS Tours Available Winter, Spring, and Fall
Hampton Jitney is eager to offer you this two-day tour of the Hamptons. We hope you will thoroughly enjoy the South Fork of Long Island’s East End. A knowledgeable tour guide will escort you on the motor coach and give you some of the rich history of this magnificent area of New York, in settings like Montauk, Sag Harbor, East Hampton, Sagaponack, Water Mill, Hampton Bays, and Southampton.
Tour the majestic Montauk Point Lighthouse, dine in the charming villages of Sag Harbor, and Hampton Bays, sample some premium wine at Wolffer Estate Vineyards, visit the new home of the Parrish Art Museum, the Pollack-Krasner House, and the Shinnecock Indian Nation Cultural Center and Museum. Of course, there will also be opportunities for some shopping.
Day One
Start your tour in Southampton with your experienced tour guide.
Take a scenic ride to see some sights along the ocean, view some of the homes of the rich and famous, the very beautiful St. Andrew's Dune Church, and the well-known Cooper's Beach (ranked high on “America's Best Beaches List" in the U.S. for many years).
Next, journey to Sag Harbor for a fabulous lunch at Sag Harbor’s landmark hotel: The American Hotel. The hotel was built in 1846 at the height of the Whaling era, and is still regarded as one of the most elegant, charming and professionally run establishments on the East End of Long Island.
After lunch you will have time to enjoy a little sightseeing and shopping in this charming Village.
Travel now to Montauk and breathe in the invigorating salt air. Montauk is the easternmost point in New York State! Montauk has miles of unspoiled ocean beach, five state parks, a county park & several town parks, and nature preserve areas.
Here you will take a tour of Montauk Point Lighthouse. It is the oldest lighthouse on Long Island and also the oldest in New York State. This historic landmark has been part of Long Island's land and seascape for over 200 years. It actually still serves as an active aid to navigation. There is a gift shop here, as well, for those of you who would like to purchase a souvenir.
On your return from Montauk, you will stop at the very beautiful Wolffer Estate Vineyards, in Sagaponack, for an upscale wine tasting.
We’ll return for the short ride into Southampton Village so you can check in to your hotel, the Southampton Inn. The inn is an eclectic Tudor-style Inn and local landmark in the heart of Southampton.
This evening you can venture into Southampton Village (a very short walk from the Inn) where you can have some dinner, on your own, at one of several restaurants.
Day Two
This morning, your motor coach will take you to Hampton Bays for a fabulous breakfast at the Hampton Maid. The restaurant is situation in a country inn setting, has impeccable service and fresh, delicious food. There is also a lovely gift shop on the premises, with something for everyone.
From here you will travel back through Southampton and visit the new Parrish Art Museum now residing in Water Mill. The Museum was recently moved from its location in the village of Southampton. Its focus is on the art and artists of Long Island's East End (e.g., Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Dan Flavin, and Roy Lichtenstein.)
Depart for East Hampton, and do a little touring on the bus to see some of the famous Georgica Pond estates where Martha Stewart, Steven Speilberg and others have homes.
Next, arrive at The Pollack-Krasner House, home to Jackson Pollack and his wife, Lee Krasner. You will have an opportunity to tour their home and study. Jackson Pollock, regarded as the undisputed leader of the Abstract Expressionist movement, and his wife, fellow artist Lee Krasner, moved from New York City to Long Island’s East End, purchasing a small homestead on one and a quarter acres overlooking Accabonac Creek in The Springs, near East Hampton.
End your tour by experiencing a special presentation at the Shinnecock Indian Nation’s Cultural Center and Museum, in Southampton.
The Shinnecock Nation is among the oldest self-governing native tribes in the United States. Exhibited is the Shinnecock’s history spanning over 10,00 years that their people inhabited this area (now called Long Island). Built from Adirondack white pine, their facility contains 5,000 square feet of exhibition space.
There is a small gift shop for those of you interested in purchasing memorabilia.
We hope you come away feeling rejuvenated, and eager to talk about your experiences in The Hamptons.
Tour package includes: Fully guided tour, lunch at the famous American Hotel, admissions and tours of the Parrish Art Museum, Montauk Point Lighthouse, Pollack-Krasner House and Studio, and Shinnecock Indian Nation Cultural Center and Museum, and upscale wine tasting at Wolffer Estate Vineyards, complimentary muffins, juice and water, and deluxe round trip transportation (if needed). Not included: Gratuities for motor coach driver and tour escort. All gratuities are up to your discretion. Also not included are alcoholic beverages, unless otherwise noted. |
