Rest and lunch stops, on your own, will be made along the way.
4:00 PM Approximate arrival at the historic Brandon Inn - 20 Park St, Brandon, VT - 1-802-247-5766

The Brandon Inn has quite a history, marked by over twenty different owners over the past two hundred plus years. The Brandon Inn is included on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the oldest, continuously operating hospitality businesses in Vermont.

Upon arrival, you will immediately be wrapped up in the warmth of Yankee hospitality. You will quickly understand why guests say that, “coming to stay at the Inn is almost like coming home.”

Once you have settled in, gather in the common room for a complimentary Welcome Reception. Take the chill off with a Glass of Wine, Vermont Cheeses, Fresh Fruit and Artisan Crackers.

Afterwards, board the coach and travel a short distance down the road to your dinner destination, The Waybury Inn. Originally built in 1810 as a stagecoach stop and now listed on the National Register of

Historic Places, most people attribute its significance to the role it played as “The Stratford Inn” on “The Bob Newhart Television Show.”

Enjoy an evening of casual dining served in a rustic Vermont setting. On the way back to Brandon, watch an episode of “Newhart.” Who knows??????? Larry, Darryl and Darryl might be waiting for you when you return!

Day Two - Thursday, November 28:
Happy Thanksgiving!

Start your day with a leisurely Country Breakfast buffet served in the Wicker Room.

The breakfast buffet features items such as Cereals, Homemade Organic Granola with Vermont Cabot Natural Yogurt, Fresh Fruit Salad, Bagels with Cream Cheese, Homemade Muffins and Pastries and daily hot items such as an Egg Dish, Homemade Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast with Breakfast Meats, Breads, Juice, Coffee and Tea.

Late morning, meet your local guide, John. Dressed in period costume, John will lead you on a fascinating, walking tour around the Village of Brandon.

After the tour, return to the Inn for an afternoon to relax and enjoy the holiday. You may wish to watch the Macy’s Parade, vote for your favorite dog in the Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s annual dog show, cheer for your favorite football team, play a board game or work on your current craft project.

Later on, gather in the bar area and enjoy some light appetizers to tide you over until dinner. Day Three - Friday, November 29:
Start your day with a Country Breakfast served in the Inn. Then, board the coach and prepare to head out for your next adventure.

10:00 AM Arrive at the renowned Simon Pearce Glass Studio in Quechee. At this flagship store, watch craftsmen blow glass into beautiful pieces of art and glassware. You will also have time to browse and shop in their amazing display of hand-made USA pottery and lead-free glassware. The “New York Times” described Simon Pearce as a prominent American designer of glassware, and his works have been given as gifts to foreign dignitaries and to presenters at the Academy Awards.

Depart Simon Pearce and travel ‘over the river and through the woods’ to Woodstock, “the prettiest small town in America.” a short distance from Quechee. Walk among the opulent mid-19th century homes and structures built around the Village Green and along broad streets. The stately Woodstock Inn, owned by the Rockefeller family, presides over the Village Green. There will be time to explore the small shops and galleries and to have lunch on your own.

NOTE: It is recommended that you scatter for lunch, as many of the eateries are rather small. Recommendations and menus will be provided for you.

WOODSTOCK_COVERED_BRIDGEBefore you depart, gather for a group photo by the Woodstock Middle Covered Bridge located right on the Village Green.

Mid afternoon depart downtown Woodstock and travel just down the road to the Billings Farm and Museum. Here, you will explore one of the finest operating dairy farms in America and a museum of Vermont's rural past — your gateway to Vermont's rural heritage. Billings Farm features many aspects of farm work. Get to know the Jerseys, sheep, horses, oxen and chickens. The authentically restored 1890 Farm House, the center of the farm and forestry operation a century ago, features the farm manager's office, family living quarters and creamery, where 5,000 pounds of butter were produced annually. Witness the display of harvest decorations that adorn the farmhouse in traditional style.

Your visit includes a Horse Drawn Hayride and a hands-on piecrust making session. In the farm kitchen, you will witness a demo of preparing and cooking traditional holiday fare.

3:00 PM Approximate departure from Billings Farm for travel back to the Inn.

There will be time to relax and refresh before the evening’s activities.

You are in for a real treat this evening when you walk next door to your dinner destination, Café Provence. This authentic, French Chef-run restaurant will embrace you with the flavors and ambience of French cuisine. While the atmosphere is casual, the quality of food and service are extraordinary!

Your evening begins with a Cooking Demo, led by Chef Robert, former Executive Chef of the New England Culinary Institute. His passion about teaching the culinary arts is infectious and you will depart wanting to try every new technique you witness.

Following the demo, head to the dining room for a delicious and memorable 3 course dinner prepared by the Chef. One of your entrees will have been featured in the demo!

Return to the Inn after dinner, or linger at the bar and raise a glass to toast your Thanksgiving holiday.

Day Four - Saturday, November 30:
Enjoy a delicious farewell breakfast at the Inn.

After you check out of your rooms, there will be time for a stroll and photo ops around the Village Green. Take time to stop in at the amazing Gourmet Provence Bakery and Wine Shop (open at 7:00 am). CARNIVAL IN SWITZERLAND & WINTER WONDERLAND
February 28 – March 6, 2020

SWISS_TRAIN BASEL Having lived in Switzerland, I have found Basel Fasnacht (Carnival), probably one of the most incredible experiences of my living abroad! Imagine 4 days of celebration, a sea of illuminated, hand painted lanterns, parades of fife & drums & music non-stop thru tiny streets with tons of confetti!

Due to its uniqueness & quality, Basel Fasnacht is part of the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. Add to that: parts of Switzerland that are some of our favorite places, yet unknown to most! (Dennis worked 30 years for SWISSAIR so we have lots of local insight to lesser known treasures).

Stunning mountain excursions, winter wonderland train journey & explore like a local as we welcome you to our second home!

4 nights Basel, 2 nights in a charming chalet in the countryside.
Call soon! We have limited space!

SCANDINAVIAN ADVENTURES & NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE
November 2020

FJORD ICELAND ICELAND4 ICELAND5 ICELAND6 ICELAND7 ... after an extremely well received tour to Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark & Sweden - July 2018) with a 7 day cruise to the Arctic (on a working ship delivering mail & supplies to remote villages), most of our group has asked to do it again, but going southbound with new experiences & an opportunity to see the Northern Lights.

Imagine the fanfare of crossing the Arctic Circle, locally sourced feasts prepared by award winning Chefs, exquisite vistas from the beautiful lounges on ship, fascinating daily lectures by an engaging exploration team. It’s a most authentic experience!

PS The only WORK we did was getting out of bed & making it to meals, & sightseeing & the bar!

We are still designing this tour to one of the most beautiful places on earth! We MAY also fly to Iceland on the way home for a few nights.

Think Glaciers, the Blue Lagoon Spa, dramatic scenery. And perhaps overnight in Finland to watch the Northern Lights from our bed as we gaze out a glass ceiling from the comfort of our room!!!

Call soon – the list is growing!
