The Corning Museum of Glass is a celebration of glass, "not just for looking at or through." There are about 45,000 glass objects here, hands on exhibits that explore the art, science and technology of glass, daily glass-blowing demonstrations, a glass-working studio, a world class research library and market.

Breakfast is included at the hotel.

9:00 AM Depart the hotel with our local guide.

Stop at Women’s Rights Statue visitor’s center museum and chapel for a tour, then drive through Seneca Falls for a photo stop at the Women’s Rights Statue.

“Women’s Rights National Historical Park tells the story of the first Women’s Rights Convention held in Seneca Falls, NY on July 19-20, 1848. It is a story of struggles for civil rights, human rights, and equality, global struggles that continue today. The efforts of women’s rights leaders, abolitionists, and other 19th century reformers remind us that all people must be accepted as equals.”

Next, experience the delicious and well-loved Muranda Cheese Company. Muranda Cheese Company features the finest in Colby, British Raw Milk Cheddar, Blue, and Red Buddy, as well as 10 other varieties not commonly found in the Finger Lakes but whose bold, full flavors you’d expect to come from this region.

The cheese company, owned and operated by the Murray family-experienced dairy farmers, believe that only milk that has been deemed among the highest quality in the nation can make such exceptional cheeses. Be sure to visit the tasting room and sample fine, locally produced and on-site raw milk cheese. The gift shop area offers quality wines, beers and other products that showcase fellow Finger Lakes artisans.

/// As we drive, we will go through Watkins Glen to see some magnificent scenery on our way to Hammondsport for lunch on your own.

The museum has a collection of Curtiss’s various inventions such as airplanes and motorcycles. Some of the pieces were owned by the inventor himself and are very well maintained. Learn about the mechanisms of airplanes and motor vehicles then about the initial aviation industry in our country.

Next we will make a stop at one of the Finger Lakes finest vineyards for a tasting before dinner will surely delight. The owners and staff are all in the family and are dedicated to the fine art and quality of Finger Lakes wine making since the early 1970's.

Arrive at Uncle Sam Boat Tours for a luncheon cruise. As you cruise on the emerald green waters of the mighty St. Lawrence River you will see international ships from all over the world.

At the end of the cruise disembark at Heart Island to visit Boldt Castle.

Located near Alexandria Bay, in the famed 1000 Islands, this is the premier home and attraction in the region and home to the saddest of true love stories ever told. Wander the halls of this six-story and 120 room castle and imagine what could have been if tragedy had not struck. Construction began in 1900 at the bidding of millionaire hotel magnate George C. Boldt as a tribute to his beloved wife Louise. Boldt Castle was designed as their summer dream home. A castle rivaling those of Europe, built on the St. Lawrence River, in the heart of the 1000 Islands. However it was not to be, Mrs. Boldt passed away suddenly just months before the completion of the castle. Mr. Boldt was inconsolable and immediately stopped all construction on Heart Island, leaving the property vacant for over seventy years.

Once you have settled in, gather in the common room for a complimentary Welcome Reception. Take the chill off with a Glass of Wine, Vermont Cheeses, Fresh Fruit and Artisan Crackers.

Afterwards, board the coach and travel a short distance down the road to your dinner destination, The Waybury Inn. Originally built in 1810 as a stagecoach stop and now listed on the National Register of

Historic Places, most people attribute its significance to the role it played as “The Stratford Inn” on “The Bob Newhart Television Show.”

Enjoy an evening of casual dining served in a rustic Vermont setting. On the way back to Brandon, watch an episode of “Newhart.” Who knows??????? Larry, Darryl and Darryl might be waiting for you when you return!

Late morning, meet your local guide, John. Dressed in period costume, John will lead you on a fascinating, walking tour around the Village of Brandon.

Depart Simon Pearce and travel ‘over the river and through the woods’ to Woodstock, “the prettiest small town in America.” a short distance from Quechee. Walk among the opulent mid-19th century homes and structures built around the Village Green and along broad streets. The stately Woodstock Inn, owned by the Rockefeller family, presides over the Village Green. There will be time to explore the small shops and galleries and to have lunch on your own.

Billings Farm features many aspects of farm work. Get to know the Jerseys, sheep, horses, oxen and chickens. The authentically restored 1890 Farm House, the center of the farm and forestry operation a century ago, features the farm manager's office, family living quarters and creamery, where 5,000 pounds of butter were produced annually. Witness the display of harvest decorations that adorn the farmhouse in traditional style.

Your visit includes a Horse Drawn Hayride and a hands-on piecrust making session. In the farm kitchen, you will witness a demo of preparing and cooking traditional holiday fare.

CARNIVAL IN SWITZERLAND & WINTER WONDERLAND
February 28 – March 6, 2020

SWISS_TRAIN BASEL Having lived in Switzerland, I have found Basel Fasnacht (Carnival), probably one of the most incredible experiences of my living abroad! Imagine 4 days of celebration, a sea of illuminated, hand painted lanterns, parades of fife & drums & music non-stop thru tiny streets with tons of confetti!

Due to its uniqueness & quality, Basel Fasnacht is part of the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. Add to that: parts of Switzerland that are some of our favorite places, yet unknown to most! (Dennis worked 30 years for SWISSAIR so we have lots of local insight to lesser known treasures).

Stunning mountain excursions, winter wonderland train journey & explore like a local as we welcome you to our second home!

4 nights Basel, 2 nights in a charming chalet in the countryside.
Call soon! We have limited space!

SCANDINAVIAN ADVENTURES & NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE
November 2020

FJORD ICELAND ICELAND4 ICELAND5 ICELAND6 ICELAND7 ... after an extremely well received tour to Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark & Sweden - July 2018) with a 7 day cruise to the Arctic (on a working ship delivering mail & supplies to remote villages), most of our group has asked to do it again, but going southbound with new experiences & an opportunity to see the Northern Lights.

Imagine the fanfare of crossing the Arctic Circle, locally sourced feasts prepared by award winning Chefs, exquisite vistas from the beautiful lounges on ship, fascinating daily lectures by an engaging exploration team. It’s a most authentic experience!

PS The only WORK we did was getting out of bed & making it to meals, & sightseeing & the bar!

We are still designing this tour to one of the most beautiful places on earth! We MAY also fly to Iceland on the way home for a few nights.

Think Glaciers, the Blue Lagoon Spa, dramatic scenery. And perhaps overnight in Finland to watch the Northern Lights from our bed as we gaze out a glass ceiling from the comfort of our room!!!

Call soon – the list is growing!
