AMERPARIS1 AMERPARIS2 You may remember the musical film starring Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, et al, directed by Vincente Minnelli from a script by Alan Jay Lerner - with music and lyrics by George & Ira Gershwin. Wow, can we say more?

This stunning stage production of An American in Paris is about World War II Army veteran Jerry Mulligan, eager to begin his life anew after the brutality of combat. He chooses newly liberated Paris as the place to make a name for himself as a painter. With the assistance of fellow ex-pat Milo Davenport, a wealthy American with a past she wishes to forget, Jerry’s life becomes complicated when he meets Lise, a young Parisian shop girl with her own secret. Soon it becomes clear that Jerry’s friends—Adam, a Jewish American composer, and Henri, a Parisian aristocrat—also vie for Lise’s love. The new musical is inspired by the Academy Award-winning film and features such Gershwin classics as "I Got Rhythm," "S'Wonderful" and "They Can't Take That Away."

9/11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM [NF]

Price:
Desc.:
911MEMPOSTER A tribute to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, near the town of Shanksville, and in the attack on the World Trade Center on February 26, 1993. The Memorial’s two reflecting pools, each nearly an acre in size, are set within the footprints of the former Twin Towers. Their walls form the largest man-made waterfalls in North America, and a grove of what will eventually be more than 400 oak trees surrounds the pools. The names of the victims of the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed in bronze panels along the perimeter of the pools, serving as a powerful reminder of the unprecedented loss of life in an attack on US soil and of the iconic Twin Towers themselves.

911CITYIMAGE The museum’s power rests, first and foremost, in its location: The 110,000 square feet of exhibition space are within “the archaeological heart of the World Trade Center site.” The museum takes visitors underground—literally. It lies 70 feet below ground, so entering the museum involves descent from the light of the outside into dimly lit depths, which adds to the overall power and pathos of this hallowed ground.

The museum is a tribute to the victims, to the survivors—and to their loved ones.
Numerous exhibits feature photographs, audio, videotapes and recorded testimonies connected to September 11, 2001 and also to the February 26, 1993, WTC bombing.

BLAZE The tri-state area’s biggest, most exciting, most electrifying Halloween event. This event sells out every year so call early to reserve!

The Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze is a fall spectacle integrating thousands of hand-carved Jack O’Lanterns — everything from your standard Jack to extremely elaborate abstract designs — lit up throughout the landscape of Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., in various arrangements — thematic, conceptual, and otherwise. While this event pays tribute to Halloween and Sleepy Hollow Country, Blaze transcends its Halloween roots and is now a classic fall festival.

The Blaze is suitable for a general audience. While there are some elements that are spooky, this is not a haunted tour, so there will be no goblins or ghouls jumping out to scare the wits out of the youngsters.
